The book is a great read (I read it in two sittings)! I think America is hungry for this type of message. The book is a great read because you made it a story about specific people and not simply principles and beliefs; you put faces and emotions behind these principles and beliefs. Today's corporate world has its priorities completely backwards. Explaining that 'Once we get our financial balance sheet in order, THEN, we might have time for initiatives like 'People First''. Rather than realizing that by putting 'People First', the balance sheet will follow. I look forward to the book hitting the stores in the US and recommending it to my business associates. For the committed, conducting business in a manner that puts 'People First' could be the best business decision they ever make...

After reading People First by Pastor Lannom, I had the opportunity to put its principles into action. I needed a car very badly since I had just sold my car for half price to a minister who was without a car. Now he had one and I didn’t. A friend dropped me off at the auto action in Fort Lauderdale , and I thought I would just drive out. (The very fact I could bid at the auction came from the application of People First principles:  a few days before, I was about to buy a car from a fellow who buys cars at auctions, but the deal was not right for me. But despite huge differences in background, we found many commonalities and he invited me to become a dealer (for free) and have the right to enter the auction. Entry to the “lanes” is strictly limited to badged dealers.))

At the auction, I bid on exactly the car I wanted and got it for several thousand dollars below the fast-sale market price, and perhaps $4,000 below the used car lot sticker price. After buying it, the car got lost in the “system” and was actually towed to another auction by mistake. Although I was angry, I stuck to the People First principles in Jack’s book and took time to get to know the sales and customer service people who came to my aid. I ended up making a ton of new friends, and they went to bat for me. Eventually they got my car back, and to make up for many hours of lost time, they took another $775 off the already bargain price. Afterwards, I wrote two different letters commending the considerable efforts that two outstanding auction employees took on my behalf to get my car back.

Now I’m driving a 2000 Honda CR-V that is worth thousands more than I paid for it—all because I learned from Jack to put People First.

Dear Mr. Lannom,

Through more than 30 years I have known Mr. Helge Normann and had him as a personal friend.  More than 15 years ago he introduced me to Carlson Learning Company, the worlds largest supplier of psychometric analysis.  Since that time my company was the official distributor for Carlson Learning in 6 different countries, a relationship I learned a lot from during many years.

In late 2005 he gave me a copy of your first People First book and talked about this as part of an educational concept he strongly advised me to familiarize myself with.  However, my very busy schedule throughout the last 6 months, unfortunately kept me from following his advice.  However, when he gave me a copy of the script for the Norwegian translation 2 weeks ago I decided to take the time to really read it with an aim to give him my true evaluation.

May I say that I was positively very surprised!  Based on my more than 35 years of experience as a corporate and leadership consultant I have seen and read quite a lot of what is available within my own field of business. Over the years I have evaluated and given my opinion on many different educational concepts for the corporate world.  However, I have never come across anything even close to what you have created here. I am therefore pleased to give you the highlights of my evaluation as follows:

1. I am not able to recall that I have ever come across an educational concept which future licensees in Scandinavia (and probably any country) to such a high degree will be able to market, not only to groups within the corporate world as well as to various other organizations, but also to the entire population of any country!
2. Should any country in the world succeed in exposing most of its population to this concept and the People First philosophy, then, this country will become impossible to beat in the marketplace.  The competitive factor of this country would be huge!
3. You have created a concept, which is as simple as it is totally unique. The concept as well as the contents has a form, which insures that every company and every man and woman will be able to embrace it and derive tremendous benefits from it, with no need to make any adjustments or changes due to difference in culture.  This is truly “back to the basic” in its poorest and most effective form.
4. As a person who for years also has been much involved in politics, I feel certain that People First will prove to be a very interesting and well received concept in this environment too!

Mr. Lannom, there is no doubt in my mind that you have created an educational concept with People First, which has the potential to truly change the world. I congratulate you on your insight and understanding of the human spirit and would be proud assist you or your organization on implementing and introducing People First to the corporate world of Scandinavia!
